“…Since the alkyl chain that characterizes the structure of compounds S0CH6, S1CH6 and S5CH6 bears six methylene groups, and the concentration of the electro-active compound in the voltammetric experiments is relatively low, we speculate that there must exist a folded form of those compounds that, by means of a electrostatic interaction, should be responsible for the more negative reduction potential computed from our experimental data. Similar results in electrochemical behavior of stilbazolium dyes were observed by other groups [17,18]. It is necessarily to emphasize that, in order to transfer the multicationic monomethine dyes into efficient free radical polymerization initiating system, the exchange of an anion type from iodide or bromide on borate anion was needed.…”

“…The interest in II-V lies in the study of the effects of CD inclusion on the properties of surfactants containing a covalently attached electroactive group. 10,11 Isnin et al studied the interaction of CDs with similar ferrocene derivatives containing 1, 7 and 16 methylene units in their hydrocarbon chains. 10 The cyclic voltammetry and NMR measurements were suggestive of specific interactions between the CD and the ferrocene derivatives.…”

“…The bimodal nature of these interactions is attributed to the geometrical preference for binding of a-and b-CD to the aliphatic and the ferrocene groups, respectively. 10,11 The measured association constant (K a ) of II and III with a-CD was reported to be about 240 M À1 and 420 M À1 , respectively. Likewise, the K a values for inclusion of II and III with b-CD was estimated at 1900 M À1 and 1400 M À1 , respectively.…”

“…β-CD binds both Fc + and Ad -, but the corresponding binding constants (K S ) are different (K S = 2900 M −1 [32] for β-CD⋅Fc + , and K S = 39500 M −1 for β-CD⋅Ad - [33]). Upon addition of Fc + to the aqueous solution of the DETA-β-CD-CNCs, a quenching process was observed, indicating that the PET process took place upon irradiation.…”
