California healthy cities project: Piloting community‐based health promotion statewide

Abstract: Given the steadily rising costs of medical care — and increasing recognition of the role of individual responsibility in maintaining personal health — the concept of the “healthy city” may indeed be an idea whose time has come. The problem‐solving approach emphasizes prevention, an expansive definition of health and broad‐based participation.
