Abstract: Although there are limited improvements, the setting up of a training program has not translated into better initial care for trauma patients in our area of influence. Trauma training should be complemented with other support measures in order to achieve a systematic application of the trauma care principles.

“…Similar challenges regarding low incidence and exposure to paediatric trauma are also seen in other countries [32, 33]. Introduction of targeted courses and training programmes provide greater confidence and better systematic approach to resuscitation, but the long-term effect on the outcome is still debated [32, 33]. A multiprofessional team-based approach to resuscitation of critically ill and injured children was initiated in Norway, but its effect on the outcome, system development and implementation has not yet been described [34].…”

“…Therefore, in order to compensate for this reduced in vivo experience of potentially severely injured children, systematic training seems warranted [31]. Introduction of targeted courses and training programmes provide greater confidence and better systematic approach to resuscitation, but the long-term effect on the outcome is still debated [32, 33].…”

“…An increasing number of patients are being treated in non-specialized centers, and the severity of patient injuries is lower. In addition, although highly significant improvements were observed after the AITP training program implementation, there was no clear improvement in quality indicators, with the author of the paper proposing that the training courses should be accompanied by other measures, such as checklists, to ensure the proper application of the AITP procedure (8) . Checklists (CL), which are widely used in industry and medicine, are particularly useful when rapid and systematic decision making is required in critical, complex, and stressful situations (9) .…”
