Calibration of a Chromatic Confocal Microscope for Measuring a Colored Specimen

Abstract: In this paper, a color correction method is proposed to improve measurement accuracy for chromatic confocal microscopy (CCM) when measuring a colored specimen. Characteristic curve shifting due to selective reflection from color surfaces was analyzed based on a laboratory CCM system developed by the authors' team. Theoretically, when the color of the targeted surface is different from that represented by the central wavelength of the light source, the characteristic curve of CCM would have a notable deviation … Show more

“…This system is now working as a research platform for the authors' team. The authors' team has published some relevant work, including a confocal measurement system with expanded vertical measurement range [36], fast chromatic confocal sensor development [37], and image grating development for displacement measurement as an alternative of linear encoders [38]. These in-house developed technologies will be integrated into the prototype presented in this paper.…”

“…Chromaticity calibration [19] refers to the process of measuring data that needs to be characterized as a color image, forming a certain mapping relationship between the data and color values, and then generating an image according to the mapping relationship. Firstly, the original azimuth gamma data of the imaging well section is extracted and processed by an improved data sampling model (to be elaborated in section IV).…”
