Calibration-free extraction of constitutive parameters of magnetically coupled anisotropic metamaterials using waveguide measurements

Abstract: A calibration-free method for extraction of electromagnetic properties of magnetically coupled anisotropic biaxial metamaterial (MM) slabs from waveguide measurements is proposed. It relies on three measurement steps (thru, empty line, and the same line arbitrarily loaded by the MM slab) to extract electromagnetic properties. It is evaluated against another calibration-dependent method for retrieval of electromagnetic properties of a MM slab constructed by C-shaped resonators. From evaluation analysis, we note… Show more

“…Thus, it provides another significant sensing method in THz regime to effectively detect the micro dielectric changes of virus, polypeptide, and biological antibiotics . On the basis of SSPPs, massive planar metamaterial structures for biosensing based on tightly confined SSPPs mode have been reported, such as nano‐antenna metamaterial, square apertures metasurface, nano‐gap split‐ring metamaterial, and corrugated‐stripe metamaterial …”

“…20,21,26 On the basis of SSPPs, massive planar metamaterial structures for biosensing based on tightly confined SSPPs mode have been reported, such as nano-antenna metamaterial, square apertures metasurface, nano-gap split-ring metamaterial, and corrugated-stripe metamaterial. [20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28] In this article, Jerusalem cross apertures metamaterial absorber based on the strongly confined SSPPs resonance mode in THz regime is proposed for different subtypes and protein concentration biosensing of AI viruses. Equivalent models for the virus are numerically investigated to extract various compositions of dielectric constants.…”

“…The traditional characterization techniques used to measure the electromagnetic properties of scalar and tensorial permittivity and permeability of complex materials have received significant efforts in recent years 1 , 3 , 21 31 . These techniques are, essentially, based on measuring the scattering parameters from the investigated materials in free space 22 , 28 using single or multiple normal 32 and oblique 33 linearly polarized wave incidence. The characterization procedures start from deducing the effective refractive index and effective wave impedance from the transmitted and reflected fields.…”
