Calibration and measurement capability evaluation for 1 MN hydraulic force standard machine newly installed at NMIJ

Abstract

Social safety is predicated on accurately evaluated force standards and a system for force traceability. National Metrology Institute of Japan, the body responsible for managing Japan's national force standards, has implemented a new 1 MN hydraulic force standard machine. In this paper, we assess the calibration and measurement capability of this new force standard machine using five different force measuring instruments. Our findings confirm that its capability is less than 1×10−4 relative, demonstrating its adequate performance as one of the national force standards.
