Calculations and Experiments for Impact Strength of Natural Long‐Fiber Reinforced Composites

Abstract: use of ARM-Laminates results to a possible temperature decrease of more than 23 C or » 16 % at the IC. Industrial assembled ceramic packages based on ARM-Laminates for RFpower amplifier have been produced with a heat dissipation increase of more than 13 % compared to state-of-the art heat spreader composites.

“…Consequently, the hydrophilic nature of natural fillers reduces the adhesion to a hydrophobic matrix and, as a result, a loss in strength may be induced as showed by the results of mechanical tests reported below. The surface free energy of both the filler and the polymer is very small [45], therefore the phenomenon of stress transfer occurs in a more difficult way and the filler particles become sources of stress concentration which can lead to an accelerated breakage [46]. To prevent this phenomenon, the silverskin surface could be modified by several methods proposed in the literature, such as wax treatments [47].…”

“…The impact strength of NFC is maximized at the critical fiber length and increases with the fiber content and composite strength . It is possible that the algae fiber reached its critical fiber length when 0.14 υ f was processed with grafted polypropylene.…”

“…This is consistent with literature. 16,17 Impact strength of the elastomer modified composites It has been proved that elastomer (both synthetic and natural) can be used to improve the impact properties of the fiber reinforced composites. 12 Figure 7 shows the typical load-displacement curves of PP and its composites.…”
