Calculated Avoidance: Math Anxiety Predicts Math Avoidance in Effort-Based Decision-Making

Abstract: Math anxiety – negative feelings towards math – is hypothesized to be associated with the avoidance of math-related activities such as taking math courses and pursuing STEM careers.
