“…Analysis of this data indicated the introduction of calcia into CaZrO 3 caused an increase of cell parameters and cell volume compared to pure CaZrO 3 . These observations agreed with our previous results described in details for CaZrO 3 -based samples synthesized by solid state reaction or citrate method [11,12]. If one compares the cell volume values determined for nonstoichiometric CaZrO 3 gas-tight samples formed from the same powder, but sintered in different conditions (methods A and B, respectively), it can be seen that in comparison to starting CZ-51 powder or pressureless sintering a higher increase to the CaZrO 3 cell volume occurs with samples which are hot-pressed (method B).…”

“…These results are in agreement with our former investigations carried out on samples prepared by solid state reaction or the citrate method. The introduction of excess calcia into the CaZrO 3 structure caused an increase in the concentration of oxygen vacancies compared with stoichiometric CaZrO 3 , which are responsible for higher oxygen ionic conductivity compared to stoichiometric CaZrO 3 [9,11].…”

“…This has led to the development of hydrogen sensors for molten aluminum. These sensors are based on proton-conducting oxides [423][424][425][426][427] although, as discussed above, at low oxygen partial pressures (as occur in molten aluminum) oxygen ion conduction can occur in these oxides [428,429]. This may lead to the sensor output being affected by the water vapor partial pressure.…”
