Calcium complexation by steroids involved in the steroidogenesis
Gastón E Siless,
Gabriela M Cabrera
Abstract:Steroids that take part in the pathways of human steroidogenesis are involved in many biological mechanisms where they interact with calcium. In the present work the binding selectivities and affinities for calcium of progestagens, mineralocorticoids, androstagens and estrogens were studied by ESI-MS. The adduct profile of each steroid was characterized by high resolution and tandem mass spectrometry. The relative stability of the most important adducts was studied by threshold collision induced dissociation, … Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
