The process is accomplished in at least two stages in which the mode and gradient of mineralization differ: (1) the stage of matrix formation, from the beginning to the completion of matrix secretion, in which initial mineralization occurs, and (2) the stage of maturation, from the completion of matrix formation to the completion of mineralization, in which a secondary mineralization occurs (Weinmann et al, 1942;Suga, 1982).…”
