“…The corroded product that forms may be ZnO, Zn(OH) 2 , CaO, CaCO 3 , and Na 2 O. Work by 25,28 has yielded similar observations. It was evident that the corrosion attack had caused a significant variation in the EDS spectrum between the samples under investigation.…”

“…First, by sealing up micro-pores and other imperfections in the zinc matrix, calcium carbonate can act as a physical barrier to lessen the entry of corrosive substances. 25 CaCO 3 can also engage in chemical reactions that enhance the coating's protective properties. 26 For example, when moisture and CO 2 are present, calcium carbonate may transform into calcium bicarbonate, as shown by eqn (1).CaCO 3 + CO 2 + H 2 O → Ca(HCO 3 ) 2 …”

“…Based on the results obtained in the present work, it is possible that the conversion treatment in oxalic acid solution can improve the corrosion resistance of zinc-based coatings containing elements such as Ni and compounds such as CaCO 3 -ESP that increase the corrosion resistance of the zinc coating on biodiesel. It has been found 49 that coating consisting of Zn-10%CaCO 3 -ESP double layer, using CaCO 3 derived from eggshell waste (ESP), exhibits a corrosion resistance in biodiesel superior to that of Zn coating. Therefore, in a future work we plan to analyse how the conversion treatment in the oxalic acid solution affects the corrosion resistance of deposits such as Zn-Ni and Zn-10%CaCO 3 -ESP double layer.…”

“…Further research is needed to fully understand the potential of FRP as a solution for biodiesel corrosion. Atikpo et al (2022) proposed the use of a Codeposition method to create a novel mild steel coating using eggshell waste. The authors evaluated the microstructure, hardness values, viscosity, and density of the samples in a Jatropha curcas Eslami et al (2015) found that tap water conditions led to higher moisture absorption, while high-temperature immersion weakened the mechanical strength and bonding.…”
