“…Measurements based on 49 Ti have been found to be sensitive enough when assessing Ti in complex samples. [35][36][37][38][39] A tuning solution containing Be, Ce, Fe, In, Li, Mg, Pb, and U (1.0 mg L −1 ) and Ag or Ti (10 mg L −1 ) was used to adjust the ICP-MS prior to analysis. The ow rate was daily determined by weighing the amount of deionized ultrapure water aspirated by the sample introduction system for 1.0 min (measurements in triplicate).…”

“…Due to use of TiO 2 as an additive in foods and consumer products, and therefore possible implications on human health and the environmental impact , there remains interest in the detection of TiO 2 NPs in various sample types. An assessment of the bioaccessibility of TiO 2 NPs and Ag NPs from molluscs has recently been undertaken by Taboada-Lopez et al 275 Initially, the presence of NPs in the molluscs was assessed using sNP-ICP-MS, after an enzymatic extraction with pancreatin and lipase. Subsequently, the wet molluscs were homogenised and suspended in an HCl/pepsin mixture at pH 2, to represent the gastric phase, followed by adjustment of the solution pH to 7 and the addition of pancreatin, bile salts and sodium dihydrogen carbonate, to represent the intestinal phase, with each phase shaken at 37 °C for two hours.…”

“…A poor bioavailability (<0.02%) was reported for Ag, whereas absorption of 18−68% was found for Ti. 18 In a previous study, Siedlikowski and co-workers reported bioavailability of approximately 60% for methylmercury (MeHg) from raw tilapia and shrimp samples after bioassays using Caco-2 cells. 19 To the best of our knowledge, the influence of cooking methods on the bioavailability of essential elements and arsenic from these species has not yet been studied.…”

“…Recently, Taboada-López and co-workers used the Caco-2 epithelial barrier model to estimate the absorption of Ti and Ag from mollusks. A poor bioavailability (<0.02%) was reported for Ag, whereas absorption of 18–68% was found for Ti . In a previous study, Siedlikowski and co-workers reported bioavailability of approximately 60% for methylmercury (MeHg) from raw tilapia and shrimp samples after bioassays using Caco-2 cells .…”
