Abstract

This essay, as the result of a PhD dissertation, proposes the concepts Jester and Lying Cabin as ways of thinking the contemporary visual arts constructions. On welcoming ambivalent concepts (and even contradictory ones), fugitive propositions, crossover notions and the idea of a smoke curtain; the process of creating works of art (and its subsequent experimentation and theorization) is considered in the between lines of established methods as it generates new proposals for the arts. Therefore, the Jester's different tempers allow us to understand the art operations as the Lying Cabin becomes the smoky space in which lying is thought as poetic truth. Finally, the notions of Jester and Lying Cabin stress the arts autonomy and consider the poiesis as manners of thinking.
