CA724 predicts overall survival in locally advanced gastric cancer patients with neoadjuvant chemotherapy

Abstract: Background: Serum tumor markers are of great importance in diagnosis, prognostic predicting and recurrence monitoring in gastrointestinal malignancy, including AFU, AFP, CEA, CA199, CA125 and CA724. However, their significances in gastric cancer (GC) patients with neoadjuvant therapy (NCT) are still uncertain. The aim of this study is to evaluate the predictive value of these six tumor markers in locally advanced GC patients with NCT and curative surgery. Methods: 290 locally advanced GC patients with NCT and … Show more

“…Other studies had shown that, CA724 was an independent factor for e cacy of NAC in gastric cancer [30]. Our study reached the same conclusion that the higher the level of CA724, the worse the response to NAC.…”

“…The difference was that they used RECIST criteria rather than TRG. In our another article [20], we found that CA724 before treatment and CA724 after treatment were both independent predictive factors for overall survival. However, in that article, TRG was not mentioned.…”

“…Tumor biomarker CA724 trended to be considered as an independent prognostic factor [ 19 ]. Tong et al found that CA724 predicted overall survival in locally advanced gastric cancer patients with neoadjuvant chemotherapy [ 20 ]. In this study, there was no significant difference between the levels of tumor marker CA724 in control group 1 and control group 2 ( p > 0.05), while the level of tumor marker CA724 in the observation group was higher than that in both control group 1 and control group 2 ( p < 0.05).…”
