“…In this scenario, the monomer 4‐methyl‐1,3‐pentadiene (4MPD) is potentially interesting in the synthesis of polymers having pendant double bonds along the polymer chain because of the tendency of this 1,3‐alkadiene to polymerize giving prevalently 1,2‐enchainment, leaving one double bond unreacted . Indeed, many homogeneous catalytic systems based on group 4 metals activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO) have been shown to promote the 1,2‐syndioselective polymerization of 4MPD with good activity.
