“…After a gift of 1500 units of C1 inhibitor concentrate, improvement was seen within 20 min. Several other case reports confirmed successful treatment with C1 inhibitor concentrate [35][36][37][38]. Patients showed improvement on average 88 min and complete resolution in 10.1 h, without the need for other treatment such as intubation or corticosteroids or a second gift of C1 inhibitor concentrate.…”

“…Symptoms resolved in 13 patients. One patient, who experienced a relapse 4 h after treatment, underwent tracheotomy [ 38 ]. None of the 10 patients treated with C1-INH from the same case series required intubation or tracheotomy compared to the historical control group who received standard treatment at the same institution (3/47, 6.38% required tracheotomy; 5/47, 10.64% required intubation) [ 37 ].…”

“…67,68 Although rare, serious cases of ACEi-A can require intensive care, including tracheal intubation, and may lead to death. 66,[71][72][73] Bradykinin receptor 2 antagonist (icatibant)-a drug approved for HAE-has also been proposed to treat ACEi-A and has been shown in one study to quicken resolution of angioedema. As described above, time to onset for ACEi-A varies from days to years and has also been reported to occur after discontinuation of the ACEi.…”

“…70 Rather, fresh frozen plasma, C1 esterase inhibitor or tranexamic acid had been found to be effective in several case series and are often utilized in real-life practice when first-line treatment fails. 66,[71][72][73] Bradykinin receptor 2 antagonist (icatibant)-a drug approved for HAE-has also been proposed to treat ACEi-A and has been shown in one study to quicken resolution of angioedema. 73 However, two further studies, one of which was a large multi-centre trial, were unable to replicate this finding.…”
