Abstract: Cancer tissue generally possesses an immunosuppressive microenvironment. However, some cancers are associated with lymphoid stroma (i.e., a widely developed tertiary lymphoid structure). The T-cell zone (paracortex) of secondary lymphoid organs, particularly lymph nodes, is characterized by an abundance of T-cell zone fibroblastic reticular cells (TCZ-FRCs) that express C-C motif chemokine ligand 21 (CCL21) and smooth muscle actin (SMA).
