Peoples who are visually impaired typically have several challenges while engaging with their surroundings. The major challenge for visually impaired people is figuring out how to get where they want to go. People with good eyesight need to help these visually impaired peoples. Intelligent and multi-functional shoe is a great system that helps the visually impaired peoples finds their way when they walk. So, a special shoe has been made to help visually impaired people walk safely without worrying about running into other people or solid objects. This research paper proposes the design and development of an intelligent and multi-functional shoe for the visually impaired peoples. This system is based on Internet of Things (IoT) technology that incorporates various sensors to assist them in navigating their surroundings. The intelligent and multi-functional shoe has a Ultrasonic sensor (HC-SR04), an IR sensor, and a 6DOF Accelerometer Gyroscope GY-521 (MPU-6050) to detect obstacles, count the number of steps taken by the wearer, and improve their mobility and independence. Additionally, a GPS Module GY-NEO-6M V2 is used to track the wearer's location in real-time, enabling caregivers or family members to monitor their location remotely. The data collected by the sensors are transmitted to a central device via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, providing real-time monitoring of the wearer's activities. This research paper also provides a comprehensive overview of the implementation details and the results obtained during the testing of the intelligent and multi-functional shoe. The proposed Internet of Things (IoT) based intelligent and multi-functional shoe is expected to provide a low-cost and effective solution for addressing the challenges faced by the visually impaired peoples in navigating their surroundings, and also improve the quality of life for the visually impaired peoples.

Traditional blind guide devices are large and high cost. In this paper, a kind of intelligent blind guide system (IBGS) is introduced. GD32 is used as the main control chip, it cooperates with various functional modules to realize traffic light recognition, obstacle avoidance, payment, and navigation functions on the basis of speech recognition. At the same time, IBGS uses WIFI instead of Bluetooth to get rid of the dependence on smart phones. In addition, a cloud database is built, and the Internet of Things technology is used to realize the information interconnection between the IBGS, the database, and the guardian's mobile terminal. In order to better realize the function of speech recognition, this paper proposes a Conv-Transformer Transducer (ConvT-T) speech recognition framework based on Weak-Attention Suppression (WAS), which improves the efficiency of multi-head attention through WAS. The proposed method achieves word error rate (WER) of 3.2% in test-clean and 7.9% in test-other on the LibriSpeech ASR corpus with only 73M parameters, which reduces the WER by 0.3% and 0.4% compared to ConvT-T respectively, indicating that WAS can effectively play the role of suppressing non-critical attention on the ConvT-T framework. At the same time, the IBGS has been tested in a comprehensive application scenario. In outdoor traffic light recognition, speech recognition, and obstacle avoidance tests, the accuracy rates of 92.33%, 90.33%, and 96.67% were achieved respectively. The results show that the IBGS can effectively deal with various challenges encountered by the blind in their daily outdoor walking.

Walking independently is essential to maintaining our quality of life but safe locomotion depends on perceiving hazards in the everyday environment. To address this problem, there is an increasing focus on developing assistive technologies that can alert the user to the risk destabilizing foot contact with either the ground or obstacles, leading to a fall. Shoe-mounted sensor systems designed to monitor foot-obstacle interaction are being employed to identify tripping risk and provide corrective feedback. Advances in smart wearable technologies, integrating motion sensors with machine learning algorithms, has led to developments in shoe-mounted obstacle detection. The focus of this review is gait-assisting wearable sensors and hazard detection for pedestrians. This literature represents a research front that is critically important in paving the way towards practical, low-cost, wearable devices that can make walking safer and reduce the increasing financial and human costs of fall injuries.
