The evaluation of the Hittite and Luwian inscriptions that mention Western Anatolia, and the extended archaeological research on the Bronze Age have led to an increase in knowledge and arguments about the historical geography of Western Anatolia. But the poor source of documents about Western Anatolia has made the research more challenging. It is known that one of the old names of the city of Stratonikeia, which is located on the Yatagan Plain in Muğla and is among the important cities of the region, is Idrias. It is suggested that Atriya can be localized within the territorium of Stratonikeia considering the phonetic similarity with Atriya mentioned in Hittite documents. This study aims to contribute to the arguments on this subject by evaluating some of the recent findings in Stratonikeia concerning the Late Bronze Age and the studies on historical geography. Among the ceramic samples of the Late Helladic III period found in the Stratonikeia territory, there has been added some other ceramic samples such as the ones found in the Tasavlu region in 2009, under the Heroon of Hierocles in the city center of Stratonikeia during the excavations in 2018, and in the Değirmendere region during the excavations by the Muğla Museum in 2018-2019. When the routes followed by some Hittite Kings during their travels to the west, the arguments concerning the location of the cities within the Yatağan Plain and Çine (Marsyas) Creek Valley, and the archaeological findings combined, it is concluded that localizing Atriya within these areas is a reasonable proposal.

The Maeander river (modern Büyük Menderes Nehri) provides the longest natural route through the mountains of central western Anatolia to link the Aegean basin to inner Anatolia, and research suggests that permanent settlement within the river's catchment had begun at least tentatively by the Late Neolithic period. However, the limited amount of archaeological research in the region has restricted our understanding of the inhabitants' settlement histories and intra- and inter-regional cultural contacts during prehistory. This paper seeks to understand better the nature of settlement dynamics and cultural interactivity from the Neolithic period through to the Late Bronze Age in this region by reviewing the available literature within a broad geographic context encompassing western Anatolia and the Aegean, neighbours whose archaeological evaluations have largely been conducted in isolation from each other. The evidence suggests that these early communities interacted with each other and inter-regionally with fluctuating intensities during prehistory, with the interior remaining more traditionally Anatolian, while the lower, coastal area experienced increasing interaction with and influence from Aegean cultures over time. The lower valley also displays a relatively static number of prehistoric sites in contrast to the middle and upper regions, where more dynamic and largely parallel settlement histories are seen.

Glass Works from the Neapolis Necropolis

13 glass artifacts, evaluated within the scope of this study, were found from a chamber tomb unearthed in 2010 in the necropolis area of the Neapolis Ancient City, located within the borders of Yazıkent Town, Bozdoğan District, in today's Aydın Province. Among the mentioned works, there are various examples such as bowls, unguentariums and glasses, most of them; Conical body, pear-shaped body, miniature spherical body, tube-shaped and candelabra (bell) body, which is divided into various sub-types, form the vessel called unguentarium. The earliest example among the Neapolis artifacts is the bowl produced by mold making, which is understood to belong to the Hellenistic Period. All of the artifacts, except the bowl, were made by using the free blowing technique, which is thought to have originated in Syria in the 1st century BC. The works evaluated in this context; They were grouped typologically and dated as a result of analogical evaluations made with known examples in ancient glass art. It is understood that among the artifacts produced in a wide range of dates from the middle of the 2nd century BC to the 3rd century AD, especially the unguentariums are associated with burial rituals.
