Purpose The innovation of business model (BM) is a strategic process for many firms, from which depends competitiveness and sustainability. Despite its theoretical relevance in management sciences, research on business model innovation is in its infancy and lacks of research consistency and theoretical connections to the theme of “performance”. With the aim to contribute in bridging this gap, this paper aims to identify and analyse drivers of business model innovation performance. Design/methodology/approach This research is based on an integrative literature review methodology. Findings BMI performance drivers are conditions related to various dimensions (i.e. processes, resources, market, BM structure, etc). that, when fulfilled, allow the BMI to have higher performance. BMI performance drivers are antecedents of BMI performance, and their identification is of both theoretical and practical value. The authors find and report a set of 35 BMI performance drivers. Originality/value The value of this research is both theoretical and practical. From a theoretical point of view, the identified “Business Model Innovation performance drivers” define and identify a variable of BMI performance, from a practical perspective, and they provide a comprehensive set of key conditions whose attainment should be planned, pursued and monitored by managers.

This qualitative study investigates the barriers to responsible consumption in e-commerce from the online shoppers’ viewpoint. The purpose of the study is to increase our understanding of what prevents young adults from making responsible purchases in online stores in the context of fashion retail. The data were collected by interviewing ten Finnish fashion shoppers aged 23-27 years. The findings show that responsible consumption is perceived as complex and challenging. The study identified barriers related to online stores and consumers themselves. Online store implementation (product availability, information and transparency, and pricing) is vital in facilitating online shoppers’ responsible purchasing decisions. However, consumers’ personal consumption patterns and habits, and problems related to time use and responsibility assessment, can also be constraints on responsible consumption. Future studies are encouraged to investigate how online solutions, such as user interfaces, online tools, and apps, could better assist consumers in overcoming the identified barriers.

Recently, the attention giving to Business Model Innovation (BMI) and also the amount of literature on BMI had been increased. However, controversies among scholars and business practitioners on the generic factors that drive BMI in firms mostly small businesses in developing countries are yet to be settled. Hence, this study sought to determine the key drivers of BMI in Nigeria's small businesses. Survey research design was employed, and items of instrument developed by previous researchers were adapted. The respondents of this study were Micro and small businesses owners/representatives in the study area, and data from 142 of them were subjected to Principal Component Analysis. The study employed an Orthogonal method of rotation using the Varimax approach. This study finding revealed that customer satisfaction and retention, market opportunities, regular assessment of operations, employee's capabilities, increment in revenue generation, and efficient channel functions are the key discriminating factors driving BMI in micro and small business enterprises (MSEs) in Nigeria. Thus, the study concludes that employing these attributes may influence performance-related outcomes in Nigeria MSEs.
