“…For their great magnetic, optical and electronic properties and they have been widely used as cathodoluminescent materials, scintillators and solid state lasers [2][3][4][5][6][7]. Like other rare earth vanadate compounds, zircon-type GdVO 4 can crystallize at an ambient condition and has also attracted considerable attention.…”

“…Motivated by the unusual thermodynamic behavior and spin dynamics of RVO 3 , we have recently applied modified rigid ion model (MRIM) and successfully explored the elastic and thermodynamic properties of the orthovanadates RVO 3 (R = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu) and AVO 3 (A = Sr, Pb). [12][13][14] The study of the lattice thermal properties of these compounds may be taken as starting point for the consistent understanding of the more complex physical properties of the rare earth orthovanadates LuVO 3 and ScVO 3 . The essentials of the MRIM formalism and the results obtained from its application are discussed in Sec.…”
