Bulk crystal growth and nonlinear optical characterization of a stilbazolium derivative crystal: 4-[2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethenyl]-l methylpyridinium tetraphenylborate (DSTPB) for NLO device fabrication

Abstract: The search for organic crystals with highly efficient nonlinear optical (NLO) properties with a high surface laser damage threshold (LDT) has become more of a demand in the frontier areas of optical switching and communications applications.

“…The theoretical study of quantum chemical calculations and molecular dynamic simulations was performed to further verify and quantify the presence of intermolecular interactions found between G-C NADES components. The molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surface diagram was used to detect electron density distributions of the molecule in term of color grading . The negative region (deepest blue) was for the nucleophilic site whereas the positive region (deepest red) was for potential electrophilic centers as shown in Figure A.…”

“…The molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surface diagram was used to detect electron density distributions of the molecule in term of color grading. 31 The negative region (deepest blue) was for the nucleophilic site whereas the positive region (deepest red) was for potential electrophilic centers as shown in Figure 3A. Positive regions of citric acid were located on the H atoms of the −COOH group and −OH group, whereas those of glucose were located on the H atoms of the −OH group.…”

“…The sample thickness is less than the Rayleigh length (Z R ) that satisfies the basic criteria (L ≪ Z R ) for Z-scan analysis. 40 In order to find the difference in OL response of 2A5NPDP single crystals grown by conventional and modified SR method grown crystals, the OL experiment was carried out using CW semiconductor diode laser operated at 532 nm under identical experimental conditions. Cut and polished crystals with similar orientation were subjected to the analysis with an identical L of 1.2 mm.…”

“…Second harmonic radiation generated by the randomly oriented microcrystals were focused by a lens and detected by the photomultiplier tube. The efficient responses for SHG mainly depend on the particle size, field-gain coefficient, the power of the fundamental beam, and the minimum beam waist [29].…”
