Building information modeling indoor path planning: A lightweight approach for complex BIM building

Abstract: The increased growth of building complexity confronts the limited device resources, especially for lightweight personal digital devices. The research of handling these complex buildings with limited resources has become a pivotal research topic. This paper explores the task of lightweight indoor path planning in complex building information modeling (BIM) buildings. Both the environment modeling and path searching are important addressed through indoor path planning with a lightweight web-based approach. A lig… Show more

“…The IFC file contains the geometric information and attribute information of all components of the model and the connection relationship between each component. Based on the open source platform BIMServer of IFC, this paper splits the file as shown in Figure 5, extracts the geometric information of the wall IfcWall, door IfcDoor and other important constructions in the IFC file into the new IFC file, and saves the attribute information related to the component in the attribute file JSON, thereby reducing the redundant information in the model [10] .…”

“…A selection of input and output parameters is given in Table 1. If a BIM-model already exists or if there are further paths to be planned for following tasks that should also be carried out by robots, the path planning can be done using the BIM-model [16][17][18]. The aim of this research is to determine the parameter settings necessary for different requirements and then to be able to create point clouds according to needs via automated planning (and autonomous robots).…”
