Abstract

The purpose of this literature review is to conduct a critical examination of the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This analysis aims to explore the potential synergies that exist between two transformational technologies within the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector. Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), both powerful tools for handling intricate architectural information and geographic data, are being increasingly acknowledged for their synergistic ability to transform project processes. The present paper provides an analysis of the fundamental concepts behind Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), emphasizing their unique functions and setting the stage for a comprehensive examination of integration approaches.The research examines the many aspects of interoperability standards, data exchange protocols, and the changing landscape of collaborative frameworks. It highlights the issues that arise due to discrepancies in data formats and organizational obstacles, which impede the smooth integration of systems.
