Abstract: The iodine–sulfur (IS) process is one of the most promising thermochemical water-splitting processes for nuclear hydrogen production. The Bunsen reaction, which produces sulfuric and hydriodic acids for two decomposition reactions, plays a crucial role in the IS process.
