Bryophytes in Maranhão/Brazil: A New Area, a New Species List

Abstract

Bryophytes were collected from a Cerrado fragment, located in the mu nicipality of Caxias, Maranhão/Brazil. In the study area, 175 bryophytes were distributed in 12 families (10 mosses and two liverworts), 17 genera (15 mosses and two liverworts) and 23 species (21 mosses and two liverworts). Sematophyllaceae was the most representative family w ith four species (Trichosteleum subdemissum, Microcalpe subsimplex, Brittonodoxa subpinnata, and Taxithelium planum), followed by Dicranaceae, Fissidentaceae, and Pottiaceae with three species each. The species of bryophytes in the researched area colonized substrates, such as corticolous, terrestrial, rupicolous, epixylics and casmofites. The table shows the families, species, phytogeographic domains in Brazil and colonized substrates.

Distribuição geográfica das briófitas no Maranhão, Brasil: uma análise do conhecido para entender o desconhecido

“…Para a construção do banco de dados foram examinadas 4.791 exsicatas com informações sobre as coletas de Briófitas para o Maranhão, tendo como base o Herbário Prof. Aluízio Bittencourt (HABIT), da Universidade Estadual do Maranhão/UEMA campus Caxias, além de coletas com registros de espécimes obtidos no Herbário Virtual (http://reflora.jbrj.gov.br/reflora/herbarioVirtual), GBIF (https://www.gbif.org/) e SpeciesLink (http://splink.cria.org.br/). Foram utilizadas também as bibliografias com indicação de táxons de briófitas ocorrentes no estado com a indicação de voucher [33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46].…”
