A small number of species was collected in relation to the 49 described species in the state of Paraná (Aguiar and Medeiros , Galati et al , Silva et al , Cruz et al , , Santos et al ), possibly because of the isolation of the islands and inability of other sand fly species to adapt to the insular environment. Nyssomyia neivai is a species well adapted to the forest edges and modified environments and may develop around domiciles and invade them (Teodoro et al ).…”
