Abstract:Pulmonary emphysema was induced in 8 bastard dogs by intratracheal instillation of Papain. Development of emphysema was documented by pulmonary function tests. The emphysematous animals underwent single lung homotransplantation. Postoperative bronchospirometric measurements revealed that up to the 6th week after transplantation there is no evidence of serious ventilation perfusion inbalance.
