“…Catheter‐associated infection caused by G. candidum has been reported rarely (Table 1) (3–8, 10–14). In addition to a positive blood culture and skin biopsy of the eschar that was adjacent to the tunneled catheter, Geotrichum species also grew from the sputum, which most likely represented lower respiratory tract infection given the finding of nodular pneumonia on chest CT.…”

“…Reports were excluded if no species was identified, or if G. candidum was obtained only from sputum samples or non‐sterile sites, which could have represented colonization or contamination. Eight of the 12 cases reported since 1971 involved patients with underlying malignancy, many of whom had recent chemotherapy (5–8, 10–12, 14). Five patients had an underlying hematologic malignancy, at least 3 of whom were neutropenic.…”

“…The therapy and outcome of Geotrichum infections are dependent on the degree of invasion of the organism and the status of the host. Ghamande et al recommended no therapy with amphotericin B in view of the usual benign course of geotrichosis (5). Sheehy et al suggested that Geotrichum spp.…”

“…Infective fungal endocarditis is a severe opportunistic infection with a high mortality rate of about 50%. [ 2 ] Among yeasts, various candida species, Trichosporon species, Saccharomyces cervisiae has been reported. Table 1 summarizes reported cases of infective endocarditis in which Geotrichum and its synonyms have been isolated.…”
