Broken Bar Fault Detection and Diagnosis Techniques for Induction Motors and Drives: State of the Art

Abstract: Motors are the higher energy-conversion devices that consume around 40% of the global electrical generated energy. Induction motors are the most popular motor type due to their reliability, robustness, and low cost. Therefore, both condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of induction motor faults have motivated considerable research efforts. In this paper, a comprehensive review of the recent techniques proposed in the literature for broken bar faults detection and diagnosis is presented. This paper mainly in… Show more

“…Therefore, the mathematical model of 3D logistics-sine complex chaotic map can be further improved. (6) In this paper, different single faults of induction motor are diagnosed effectively. However, the effectiveness of the proposed method needs to be further verified in the case of multi-fault fusion induction motors.…”

“…But the validity of the diagnosis of other motor faults needs to be verified. Atta et al [6] studied the fault detection methods of linear and inverter fed motors proposed after 2015. The main features of the existing research methods are discussed and compared in numerous aspects.…”

“…At the same time, the fuel supply system of the diesel engine is relatively simple, and the compression ratio of the diesel engine is high. At the same time, under the same power, the torque of the diesel engine is large, and the speed is low at the maximum power, which ensures its function in the engine to the greatest extent [11][12].…”

“…The motivation for extracting information about the motor state with random positioning of the sensor is based on the review articles [12,[16][17][18], the literature review presented in the next section of this paper, and the assumption that the human factor plays a The methods for detecting broken rotor bars are divided into model-based and signalprocessing methods. The model-based methods are further divided into methods based on resistance estimation (they use the deviation of the estimated rotor resistance from the known value as a fault indicator), methods based on estimation of other parameters (estimation of stator current, rotor flux, rotor speed, etc.…”
