Broadband MIMO antenna for HiperLAN/2, WLAN, and WiMAX applications with high isolation

Abstract: This paper presents a multiple-input and multiple-output dual-element planar inverted-F antenna (PIFA) array for broadband operation covering the HIgh PERformance radio Local Area Network/2 (5.2 GHz/5.6 GHz), Wireless Local Area Network (5.2 GHz/5.8 GHz), and the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (5.5 GHz) bands for the compact wireless communication devices. The antenna dimension is reduced substantially with a miniature ground plane. The PIFA array provides a large bandwidth (670 MHz) and a hig… Show more

“…In this previous paper [23], we presented a broadband PIFA antenna array for compact wireless communication device, which has provided a large bandwidth (670 MHz), a high isolation between its ports less than -26 dB with a good diversity performance. In this work, the channel capacity of this antenna array which operate at 5 GHz is investigated in a realistic indoor/outdoor and outdoor MIMO channel models, performed for NLOS scenario, by using a tool based on the ray tracing method.…”

“…Recently multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antennas have gained popularity owing to their suitable performance in different communication applications. Multi band notched applications [13], Hyperlan, WiMAX, and WLAN applications [46], ISM band applications [7], WiFi and LTE applications [810], GPS/UMTS [11], GSM, PCS, LTE2300, and 5 G bands [12] are some of the possible applications for these antennas. “MIMO” antenna term is dedicated to a technology in which more than one antenna are adopted on both source and destination sides.…”
