“…ambifaria BC-F, S. marcescens isolates N1-6, N1-14, and N2-4 and T. virens isolates GL3 and GL21 had broad-spectrum activity against soilborne pathogens of cucumber. In addition to suppressing damping-off caused by the fungal pathogens R. solani and/or P. ultimum, culture filtrates from BC-F, N1-6, N1-14, N2-4, and GL3 and GL21 inhibited in vitro egg hatch by the nematode M. incognita in experiments reported here or elsewhere (Meyer et al, 2000;Li et al, 2002). This broad-spectrum activity is likely due, in part, to inhibitory metabolites produced by these organisms.…”

“…Dual culture has been used to understand antagonism between different biological agents (Li et al 2002;Anith et al 2003;Aravind et al 2009). The endophytic root symbiont P. indica induced various reactions with rhizobacterial strains.…”

“…Interestingly, Burkholderia ambifaria, which can use NFL as a sole carbon and nitrogen source (Roberts and Lindow 2014) is often found associated with a variety of plant roots, and is a dominant colonizer of tall grass prairies. Burkholderia ambifaria has also been shown to produce compounds that promote plant growth and protect the grass host from fungal pathogens (Coenye and Vandamme 2003;Li et al 2002;Mahenthiralingam et al 2011). It is thought that the Epichloë endophyte of F. arundinacea acts as a selective agent in recruitment of beneficial rhizosphere microbes and that loline alkaloids are one resource that enriches for such bacteria.…”
