“…The last decade has also brought forth a spate of new work on the Arab Revolt in Palestine and in particular, the actions of British troops against Arab guerillas. This topic remains an important one, both in the history of Palestine even long after the brutal end to the revolt in 1939, and in the history of British colonial counter-insurgency and intelligence (Norris 2008, Hughes 2010, Goodman 2015, Davis 2019. These studies of the revolt can also draw parallels with the regional colonial history of counter-insurgency tactics: namely, those tactics of the French in Syria and Lebanon during the 1920s and 1930s.…”
