Bringing Enterprise Modeling Closer to Model-Driven Development

Abstract: Abstract. Enterprise Modeling (EM) provides the means for using models to represent organizational knowledge from different perspectives. When information systems (IS) are involved, Model-Driven Development (MDD) is an approach that focuses on the use of models as primary development artifacts. By observing that EM provides the context for high level requirements, which in turn are the input to MDD, we propose a meta-model that integrates enterprise models and requirements with design models in MDD. The metamo… Show more

“…In contrast with the works discussed in Section 3.3, our proposed methodology spans all stages of design and development of IS integration solutions. The modeling foundation for capturing the integration design is the Unifying Meta-Model (UMM) proposed in [35]. The methodology extends the ability of the UMM.…”

“…A complete description of the complementary views of the unifying meta-model and how they can be utilized to develop enterprise-aligned IS can be found in [14]. The work is still ongoing for implementing all views of the unifying meta-model.…”

“…This paper presents an account of using two tooling environments that are associated with MDD; namely, MetaEdit+ 1 and the modeling environment available in Eclipse 2 through the Eclipse Modeling Framework (EMF) 3 and the Graphical Modeling Project (GMP) 4 plug-ins. The aim of this paper is to relay the experience of using MetaEdit+ and EMF/GMP for creating a tool for the unifying meta-model for Enterprise Modeling (EM) and MDD [14], thus helping researchers and practitioners alike in gaining useful insights into the two modeling environments.…”

“…Understanding organisations and their needs for change often requires several interrelated perspectives [2][3]. The information system engineering community has contributed a number of modelling languages that are typically oriented towards a specific perspective, requiring approaches to their integration [4]. In this paper, we focus on extending a business process perspective with intentional aspects of organisations.…”
