“…There is a paucity of studies examining the effects of diet in FXS [ 11 , 14 , 15 , 19 , 20 , 21 , 22 , 23 , 24 ]. Herein, diet-responsive autistic behaviors in FXS included three behaviors in girls within the Language category (talk, speak in 3-word sentences and use words to request things), one behavior in girls within the Parent Thought Problem category (learning problem), and one behavior in boys within the Autistic Behaviors category (injure self) in association with soy-based infant formula.…”

“…The only studies that measured the nutritional content of food consumed were Durand (1975) who recorded caloric intake and Searle (1994) who used serology and food/drink logs to ascertain caffeine intake. Two studies completed a comprehensive measure of nutritional intake (Barnhill et al, 2018; Bird et al, 2011), which included both validated assessment tools and objective markers, including laboratory analysis using serology. The data collection methods used by Barnhill et al (2018) included anthropometric, biochemical analysis, clinical symptoms, dietary assessment and environmental assessment in line with the ABCDE approach to nutritional assessment.…”

“…Os pacientes com TEA cursam com maior prevalência de SGI se comparados com aqueles com desenvolvimento típico, sendo ainda associados com a severidade do autismo 23 . Esse aumento nos distúrbios GI pode estar ligado a diversos mecanismos, como uma disbiose frequentemente associada a um aumento da permeabilidade intestinal, permitindo a passagem de metabólitos bacterianos que podem afetar o sistema nervoso central 43,44 .…”
