Abstract:The sera of patients with Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria have been shown, in vitro and in vivo, to be less hemolytic for PNH erythrocytes than are normal sera. This defect may result from the liver disfunction encountered in many of the patients although the exact defect has not been defined.
The necessity for using normal sera when performing the acid hemolysis test is emphasized.
