“…The finding that police officers who experienced more types of injury/maltreatment‐related events and more “other” private traumatic events benefited more from treatment is remarkable as BEPP was initially developed as a treatment for single traumatic events (Gersons & Schnyder, ). In BEPP, one core traumatic event is addressed in a detailed way by means of imaginal exposure whereas other traumatic events are addressed in the meaning‐making phase by exploring and discussing their consequences in terms of the person's views on the world, significant others, and him/herself (Gersons et al., ; Gersons & Schnyder, ). Meaning making and performing a farewell ritual were also significantly associated with enhanced treatment effects when the treatment was completed.…”
