“…Lack of knowledge can result from the elective nature of completing extra training on lactation for physicians and midwives ( N = 1,679; Królak-Olejnik et al, 2017). In the curriculum of medical studies for physicians and midwives in Poland, only 2 hr are devoted to lactation, with 1 extra hr for specialized training ( N = 361; Nehring-Gugulska et al, 2015). Moreover, lactation counseling is not included in the services provided by the Polish National Health Service, which means that if a professional is interested in providing relevant support, they need to invest their own money for training and will need to work outside the system.…”
