Purpose: There have been growing concerns over food security and the problems of food waste on the environment, including resource depletion and greenhouse gas emissions for many years. Although food waste can happen at any point in the food supply chain, the factors that influence consumer intention has been identified as the main contributors to food waste generation. The main purpose of the research is to develop a conceptual model for the study and to investigate the factors that influence consumers' intentions toward reducing food waste behaviour in restaurants based on recognized consumer behaviour theories and an extensive literature review. Design: This research work is based on secondary sources which are collected from academic journals, newspapers, case studies, and internet searches. Postulates and the influencing variables to consumers' intention to mitigate food waste in restaurants are developed using the focus group interaction. Findings: The study explores the postulates affecting consumers' intention to reduce food waste in restaurants by extensively reviewing empirical theories. Through the development of a conceptual model evaluation, the factors associated with the study were awareness, food quality, environmental concern, attitude, and subjective norms system, which impact consumers' behavioural intention toward food waste mitigation in restaurants. Originality: As the conceptual model was being developed, the research study identifies several postulates with the assistance of several models and theories related to consumer behavioural intention and discusses several factors that influence consumer intention in mitigating food waste in restaurants. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar os estudos mais relevantes sobre a formação de hábitos em contextos sociais e, a partir deles, ter uma melhor compreensão sobre o tema e de como este vem sendo abordado nos últimos anos. Foi realizada uma busca na base de dados Scopus onde foram analisados 31 artigos, de forma a destacar o contexto de cada pesquisa e suas especificidades. Os resultados mostram que a maior parte dos estudos analisados tiveram seu foco de pesquisa na mudança de hábitos de mobilidade/ transporte e redução do consumo de água, sendo a área da reciclagem a menos pesquisada. Faz ainda parte dos resultados deste estudo, a categorização dos determinantes do hábito em três fatores, a saber: fator individual, fator de contexto/estrutural, e fator de mudança de contexto. Esta categorização pode contribuir de forma prática para que os gestores públicos a utilizem na formulação de campanhas de engajamento social e participação em atividades públicas. Depreende-se ainda das análises uma carência de estudos que abordem a influência da mudança de país no que diz respeito a formação de hábitos.

Lights off behavior makes contribution to energy saving, meeting the realistic requirements of building a sustainable society. Several studies investigated the effectiveness of prompt on energy saving behavior, but few focused on how to make prompt more effective by "packaging". In this current study, light-shaped prompt was designed with inspiration from light itself and 18 washrooms were studied in an ABAB-B method to verify whether the light-shaped visual prompt could promote lights off behaviors more than ordinary one, with a duration of 9 weeks, during which a one-week follow-up was conducted 4 weeks after ABAB was finished, to investigate the sustained effect of light-shaped visual prompt on lights off behaviors. Study showed that light-shaped visual prompt could exert more effective influence on lights off behaviors than the ordinary one. Individuals' lights off behavior persisted throughout the follow-up period. This study provided a new perspective for improving the effectiveness of prompt. But further study on more well-designed visual prompt of diverse shape was necessary for the maximization of effectiveness and expanded application.
