Brazil's Bolsa Família Programme: Aspirations and Realities of Poverty Reduction and Intergenerational Change

Abstract: This article considers the transformative potential of conditional cash transfers to address intergenerational poverty. Drawing on empirical evidence collected through qualitative research in the northeast of Brazil, it traces notions of intergenerational change and continuity amongst young recipients of the Bolsa Família programme (BFP) and their families.
