“…Thus, R. tomentosa could prevent microbial deterioration and extend food shelf life as a biocontrol agent and natural preservative (Zhao et al 2019). Meroterpenoid compounds have been isolated and identified from various other Myrtaceae species, including Eucalyptus tereticornis (Liu et al 2018) and Leptospermum brachyandrum (Zou et al 2018). Belwal et al (2019) reported that flavonoid content declined throughout fruit ripening in Rubus ellipticus, Myrica esculenta, Prunus persica, blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum), and blackberry fruit, as did Lin et al (2020) in blueberries.…”

“…The structural diversity of mono-or sesquiterpenes instills chemical structures to this type of meroterpenoids. Not only from R. tomentosa, but also from other plants of the Myrtaceae family including Eucalyptus tereticornis , Leptospermum brachyandrum (Zou et al, 2018) and Callistemon rigidus (Cao et al, 2018), meroterpenoids have been isolated and identified. Specially, the chiral carbons are common at the structure of meroterpenoids in R. tomentosa, and the isobutyl group can be frequently seen as the terminal group of the compounds (86-89, 93-97 and 99-102).…”

“…Leptospermum brachyandrum, introduced to China decades ago, has been widely cultivated in the south of China due to its ornamental and medicinal values [11]. Our previous phytochemical investigation of Leptospermum brachyandrum resulted in the isolation of 2 pinene-derived meroterpenoids and 1 phloroglucinol derivative [12]. As part of our program to discover more structurally complex and biologically active secondary metabolites from medicinal plant-derived fungi, Rhytidhysteron sp.…”
