Boronate affinity‐assisted MEKC separation of highly hydrophilic urinary nucleosides using imidazolium‐based ionic liquid type surfactant as pseudostationary phase

Abstract: In this work, we extend our investigations regarding the separation of urinary nucleosides by MEKC with the ionic liquid type surfactant 1-tetradecyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide (C14MImBr). We study the impact of adding alkyl- and arylboronic acids (in the presence of C14MImBr micelles) to the separation of these highly hydrophilic metabolites and investigate the mechanism of interaction between the negatively charged nucleosides (the negative charge is acquired either due to deprotonation of the amidic group … Show more

“…It is known that the introduction of the [C n MPY] + and [C n TA] + cations into the running buffer could provide a dynamic coating on the fused‐sillica capillary surface, change the state of the zeta potential and lead to the formation of a positively charged surface . As a result, the bulk separation solution is driven towards the anode.…”

“…These new ILs have been regarded as IL‐based surfactants and the physical and chemical behavior of them as new surfactants has been researched . To the best of our knowledge, a few examples of the analytical utility of IL‐based surfactants in MEKC have been published . However, only two literatures have reported the applications of IL‐based surfactants for MEKC enantioseparation .…”
