Abstract:BACKGROUNDEveryone dies, and only once. This basic truth underlies all formal mortality research. Similarly, everyone is born, and only once. This basic truth has not been fully exploited to benefit formal fertility research. An advance has recently been made by Baudisch and Stott (2019), who conceive a population of unborn children awaiting the event of their own birth.
