Border Collie optimization algorithm‐based node clustering technique in vehicular ad hoc networks

Abstract: In vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), the nodes are vehicles and these vehicles communicate with one another on the road. The vehicular nodes on the road move continuously and it introduces dynamic changes in the topology of the network. When the node density in the vehicular network is high, then it is still more challenging as these situations introduce different challenges for network scalability and hurdles the process of determining an optimal route in the vehicular network. At this juncture, clustering … Show more

“…The proposed protocol offers better results based on clustering efficacy and mobility improvement. Godi and Janakiraman 22 proposed Border Collie Dog optimization algorithm‐based node clustering technique (BCDOA‐NCT) for ideal CH selection, which reduces network overhead in case of indeterminate node densities. It is proposed for enabling an identical focus on exploitation as well as exploration during clustering.…”

“…The advancement in vehicular technology and evolution of intelligent systems improved the ease and safety of drivers on the roads. 1 The development of intelligent transportation system (ITS) mainly concentrated on the improvement of disseminating safety data and improved road traffic through the development of mobile and wireless networks. 2 In this context, some of the core and important ITS applications that play an improvement in VANETs include congestion control mechanism, traffic volumes collection, real-time traffic route information control, and traffic conditions monitoring for preventing collisions and accidents on the road.…”
