Once again the text is extensively referenced citing 9985 references and 137 suggestions for further reading. As in earlier editions, the core of the text deals with the pathophysiology, assessment and management of symptoms, including detailed coverage of significant advances since the second edition. The third edition is also enriched by a wide range of new content areas, reflecting the changing medical and social communities that it will serve as well as the expanding knowledge base.
