Book Review: Les Théories d'Einstein

Abstract: This book will be found of interest because of its valuable survey of the historical background of Einstein's theories. The author sometimes fails to define the symbols used. (For example, on pages 161, 179, and 243, and on page 196 there are incorrect definitions.) In spite of these defects, however, the book is one of the best elementary expositions of Einstein's work that has been published. C. N. REYNOLDS.

“…At T 2 O K the high energy components of I, (f = 1) and 1; (f = 1) structure considerably decrease in intensity. The origin of the complex structure of I, phonon replicas is not clear as yet. The fast redistribution of the component intensities with temperature shows that the complex structure of the phonon replicas is connected sooner of all with the complex structure of the corresponding bound exciton electronic level. The emission in the Il region has the characteristic intensity distribution.Besides the narrow 6822 5. A line which is resonant with the absorption there is a weak emission band with a halfwidth of 4 A and the peak at 6824.6 A on the low energy side of the Il line.…”
