The advent and progression of AR (Augmented Reality) technology, coupled with the emergence of AR hearing aid glasses, offer a novel opportunity for people with hearing impairments (PHI). This study aims to explore the willingness of this population to employ AR hearing aid glasses as their choice of hearing aid device and the specific factors influencing their preference. This study utilized the Partial least squares SEM (PLS-SEM) analytical method to create structural equation model for intentions of PHI to use AR glasses as hearing aids. Data was gathered from on-site experiences across multiple locations, resulting in 189 valid questionnaires from individuals with varying degrees of hearing disabilities. According to the data analysis results, we discovered that functionality quality, perceived interaction speed, and perceived usability significantly impact communication effectiveness. Further, communication effectiveness positively influences confidence and societal perception, and the latter has a positive impact on information. Both of these factors positively influence behavioral intention. Based on these findings, this study offers design recommendations for AR hearing aid glasses to cater to the specific needs of the hearing-impaired, aiming to enhance their quality of life. Furthermore, this study provides pivotal insights for the prospective growth of this emerging industry.

Background Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a disease that can affect the patient's quality of life (QoL), sexual functions, and mood. Objective We planned a retrospective study to investigate the effects of omalizumab use in CSU patients on sexual function. We also aimed to evaluate the sexual function, quality of life (QoL), and mood of CSU patients compared to the control group consisting of idiopathic pruritus patients. Methods A review of patients’ records with CSU attending the dermatology outpatient clinic from January 2020 to June 2020 was done. Urticaria activation score (UAS7), Beck depression inventory (BDI), Dermatology life quality index (DLQI), female sexual function index (FSFI) to female participants, and the international index of erectile function (IIEF) to male participants were used to assess the impact of the disease on patients’ life. The obtained data were analyzed by using SPSS software. Results Each one of the mean UAS, BDI, and DLQI score values decreased significantly in weeks in omalizumab group patients. IIEF score in male patients and FSFI score in female patients also increased in weeks in omalizumab group patients. Conclusions Omalizumab can play an effective role in enhancing the sexual function of CSU patients in addition to improving their DLQI.

The aim of the study is to explore the perceived impact of social distancing measures due to COVID-19 on the manifestation of skin disorders and symptoms and their association with perceived stress and body image. For the purposes of this article, quantitative-driven mixed methods are used: the Greek versions of “Perceived Stress Scale” (Andreou et al., International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health 8:3287–3298, 2011) to measure the stress levels among population, and “Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire-Appearance Scales” (Argyrides and Kkeli, Psychological Reports 113:885–897, 2013) to examine body image satisfaction and assessment, along with open-ended questions are used. Questionnaires were distributed during the period of social distancing measures and 3 weeks following lockdown. Two hundred and fifty-three ( N = 253) participants completed the survey: a control group of 164 participants without dermatological manifestations and a study group ( N = 89) with dermatological manifestations.. Statistical analysis shows that adults with acne have a higher sense of self-efficacy in managing stressful situations than participants who have other skin disorders. Gender differences are observed as far as the perceived appearance is concerned. Thematic content analysis (Braun and Clarke, Qualitative Research in Psychology 3:77–101, 2006) shows that adults with skin symptoms associate their symptoms exacerbation with intrapersonal dimensions, such as stress and fear and environmental factors. The presence of skin disease is not necessarily associated with body satisfaction, body image, and cutaneous body image, although positively correlated with stress. The results are discussed and future recommendations are proposed.
