Abstract: The interest of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5HT) for psychiatry arose originally from Gaddum's (8, 9) observation that its peripheral pharmacological actions were antagonized in a highly specific manner by a low concentration of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD).
