“…The research of de Bruind et al showed that PIK3R3 could affect insulin resistance via the IGF-1 signaling pathway [24]. In addition, hsa-miR-144 was also confirmed to downregulate the expression of insulin receptors, hinder the uptake of glucose, and delay the progression of insulin signaling [25]. In our study, this miRNA targeted several genes including GRM5 , ARPC4 , APP , and FAT4 .…”

“…Ninety-five samples were excluded due to a low number of miRNAs expressed (≤200 miRNAs per sample), and in further analysis, 243 miRNAs that were expressed in at least 2/3 of the samples were included (number of miRNAs present in detectable levels in majority of the blood samples is well in line with previous similar analysis of blood tissue41). The RNA quality and functionality of the TaqMan OpenArray microRNA expression panels have been validated previously42. After quality control and removal of outlier miRNAs, profiling was successful on 871 samples.…”

“…In another cohort, consisting of 68 type 1 diabetic patients treated with insulin for at least 6 months, urinary miR-126 was lower in type 1 diabetic patients compared with controls and was inversely correlated with HbA 1c levels [36]. In a third study, blood levels of miR-144-5p and miR-1207-5p reflected glucose and HbA 1c levels, respectively [48].…”

“…Interestingly, in healthy male volunteers, the plasma level of these two miRNAs appears to be altered after insulin infusion followed by intralipid and heparin mixture infusion, which is known to induce insulin resistance [31]. A second study reported a correlation between levels of circulating miR-484 and metabolites related to insulin resistance, which points to the potential benefit of circulating miRNAs as biomarkers of insulin resistance [48].…”
